rear seat belts

on a 1973 1500 fwd do i legally need rear belts / for it to pass an mot. if so, i know i can get them from rimmers, are the holes for the bolts already in the bodywork per chance. thanks

There should be captive nuts for rear belts in the shell, but rear belts are not mandatory in your car as it was built/registered before 1/8/86 which is the cutoff date. If they are fitted, however, they MUST work and WILL be tested, regardless of age! Best leave fitting them (if you want them) till after the MOT!

are these nuts under the rear seat?what about where the inertia reel goes above the rear shelf. i accept they dont need fitting but if i carry my kids in the car i'd rather there were seat belts worn

The captive nuts are there too; you'll have to make a hole in the rear parcel shelf each side to access them. The middle belt is a lap belt only.
