Waxtat carbs

Hello again all in the club. I recently purchased the brand new waxtat carbs for my Sprint on the bay. Imust say they are as descibed and untouched. They have solid discs, so my question is this, change the jets or leave as is ? I understand the carbs lean off as they warm up ? I could run the car with them and change the jets in situ if there are any issues.

When they work they work fine. Sometimes the was pellet misbehaves and they lean off too much so hot starting becomes tricky. Personally I think they're best avoided. You can easily replace the jets though do be aware that the linkage is different for a non-waxstat jet so you'd need those parts too. Alternatively you can remove the wax pellet and replace with 2x 1p pieces and get much the same effect. I did a guide several years ago, actually about 10 but have long since lost it but someone may still have a copy.

On a Sprint the problems with waxtstats typically occur when the car is stuck in a traffic jam on a hot day. Then they can lean out too much and cause the engine to cut out. The solution for the occasion is to pull the choke out a tad. This will obviously cause a fast idle as well, but
it will get you home.
Other than that waxstats mostly work. They improve cold weather driveability from a cold start no end....so the pros outweigh the cons IMHO.
I stick with them and keeping them clean of road dirt helps so they can be stopped from overheating with an insulating dirt layer.
If your car has a leccy fan then this will also help keep your waxtstats cool and happy.
The solid discs are a good idea, but normally dont go with waxtstats, so someone has been there before.
