Next job for me will be the steering rack and I was wondering what the advantages / disadvantages of a high ratio unit would be. Any thoughts?
I am probably going with a standard unit unless advised otherwise.

Race cars tend to have a high ratio rack, no real advantage for a road car I would have thought.

Okay.......

The "high ratio" rack was used on all front wheel drive models, Toledos, early 1850s and very early Sprints,
this version being 3.25 turns lock to lock.
Going from a 3.75 to a 3.25 rack you may not notice much difference (apart from heavier steering when parking)
but going the other way you certainly notice a difference! Especially in blustery cross winds.
