Dolomite Sprint cooling circuit

Think I bought the wrong Saab radiator, ah well, only £15.
Trying to figure out the cooling circuit for a Sprint, have I got this right.
1)Bottom block to bottom hose radiator, when thermostat is closed, water circulates in block only.
2)Two hoses from inlet manifold to heater.
3) Three hoses on thermostat housing. Small one header tank, large one RH side goes to top RH radiator and LH to LH top radiator. Only flows when stat is opened.
Don't see the point of left hand top connector, it seems to bypass most of the rad, why did they design it into circuit? My rad only has small connector in this position, so I don't think it will work.
