I know that all BW65 autoboxes have 3 number identification code before the serial no., the code for a Dolomite (1850) is 011, so can anyone tell me which model has the code 018 ?
Have searched the forum but can't find any info on the code no. - I'm sure I read a reply from Harvey on Sprint box a while ago but can't track it down.

I have one from a 1500 laying around - not sure what the number is. Guessing it's somewhere obvious?

018 - Dolomite 1500/1850 06/73-

It would appear to be an alternative to the 011, and used during the same time period, but I don't know what the differences are, if any, other than the kickdown cable, which would appear to be different. It uses the same converter.

E&OE.

Thanks Harvey - I've had a spare gearbox (code 018) for some time and only just compared Code no. with the one on my early 1850, which is 011 as per the code given in the BL Repair manual, so am grateful for your confirmation that the 018 is a suitable alternative should I ever need to use it.

The kick down cable could be different for later cars as they use twin SU carbs. whilst earlier cars have twin Strombergs - which would tie in with the difference you noted.

This means if I ever do need to change the box I may have to swap the kickdown cables (no I'm not swapping the carbs!)
