Hi Long time since I have posted anything on the forum, as moved over to restoring Mark 1 and 2 Spitfires and gt6's( sorry)

However I have come across a TR7 which has been uprated with TR8 suspension etc claims to have Gerry Marshalls spare racing engine?? the caption below is an email receicved from the current owner.

Gerry Marshall is the ex Dolomite Sprint racer of the 70's, The engine was the spare engine which had not been run, Andy got the engine off Bob Kett, who owned both.
The Race car was sold at a classic Auction at Norwich back in 2012 I think ? I know who bought the Race Sprint, they where up set the fact they didn't get this spare engine but the paperwork for this engine went with the Sprint race car at Auction. The engine in Race car was not good, think they blew first race meeting. hope this helps .

How can I prove the provenance of this engine????

I'd ask Ken Clarke's opinion if I were you...

It should have a tag on the cam cover. The actual engine is in NL. At least the camcover with the tag.

Jeroen.

I've got a really fancy engine in my TR7, but I'm not going to show it to you.....😛

Aye, that's how you sell to your strengths! 🙄

...and when they do it appears to be nothing but a stock unit pushing out at least 127 bhp, maybe even 140 bhp...tested by my mechanic’s right foot and left ear!!!
