Hazard Flasher Unit

I've fitted LED bulbs to my indicators so I'm going to need to use a 'modern' electronic flasher unit for the indicators but I've suddenly thought I'll probably need one for the hazard flasher relay. Would I require anything special or would another 3 pin flasher unit with an earth lead do the job?

Have you used a diode to stop both flashers flashing when only left or right is selected~?

If not heres a link. Half way down on the right "led flasher fix kit" He goes to the classic shows in a trailer that looks like a burger van :)

Mmm, no I haven't. I've not come across that issue before. I assumed this problem could be fixed by using an LED compatible flasher unit. I think the issue is there's basically no resistance and so they all flash like mad. I replaced the bulbs in the Mazda but because it has some weird flasher unit I decided to leave those bulbs as filament.

I'm not sure if it will work without it. As far as I can tell, (with help from migweilder), with a single dash flasher bulb the system has to earth via the opposite sides bulbs, but as standard the resistance is so high in the std bulb it doesn't light. With the low consumption of the led's they will light. The little repair thingy has to be cut and joined into the loom (behind the warning light cluster and also earthed there. Each operation is then earthed locally behind the dash and the diodes stop power going down to the wrong lamps. Twin dash indicators like early triumphs there is no problem and it works the same as with std bulbs.

I found with mine that if the off side were flashing there were bright, but the nearside were also flashing but they were dim, its all down to having the one indicator warning light in the warning light cluster. Those having twin indicator warning lights should not have this issue.
