I have a spark

Finally managed to get a spark on the Sprint conversion. Took the ht lead off the coil and plugged in a spark plug. Earthed that, then disconnected the coil earth and manually shorted that. Got a spark, so coil was good.

Put it back together and no spark from plug directly plugged into coil when engine cranked. Bugger. I knew the ignition module worked, so in desperation I switched the magnetic triggers, taking the one from the old engine. Cranked engine, spark from plug.

So it was the trigger that was duff, don't how that could be the case, but it is working now.

Now all I have to do is set everything up so it will fire.

Not sure which ignition system you are using, but the powerspark unit on my Spitfire has an issue that if you push the magnetic ring fully home on the dizzy shaft it doesn't work, you have to lift it about 1mm on the shaft - then it works perfectly.
So it might not be a duff ring, just slightly different position?
Just a thought.
