It won't even have time for a little sniff to let you know he doesn't like it.

Re: More powweeerrrrrr
I quite like the idea but I suspect the gearbox and axle won't. Superchargers are also quite big so you'd need to think about how to drive it and where to place it. They do take a degree of power to drive too so your actual gain won't be that high. For example if I added one to my MX5 I'd add perhaps 40-50 bhp before you start really stressing the engine
If I wanted to improve performance in an 1850 I'd fit a TR7 2 litre engine, a nice build with some forged pistons and a slightly warmer cam, nicely ported head and then go for EFi. I'd imagine you could make a reliable 125bhp+ quite easily which isn't bad.
Questions would still be asked of the gearbox and axle's ability to cope though.

Uprated brakes ; swap the 1850 box for a Sprint item. Also the diff. The 1850 items are a bit weak.
Moss do a supercharger kit for the MGB which will give you some pointers , but the kit is expensive.
See what the insurance people say as well.
It would be an interesting technical mod though.
Tony.

Re: More powweeerrrrrr
if you do have 120 bhp already you are at the limits of the standard box and diff.

Can you supercharge the standard carbs? As far as I understood it the SU relied on the difference between the external air pressure and the inlet vacuum to work. if your supercharge the inlet, won't it be above atmospheric pressure and therefore the suction chamber will no longer be lifted?
I remember reading that that had to modify the carb on the Metro Turbo to get around this problem.

It is possible to supercharge or turbocharge through SUs. But you have to equally pressurize the float chamber overflows as well, or it blows all the fuel out through them. Though I'm not sure how you deal with any real overflow if there is a problem with the float or float valve .

The 16v Slant 4 engine is more fun than the 3.5 V8, because you mostly drive it on the upslope of the torque curve.
