Hi Tony, welcome to the forum and to being one of the elite few to own a Sprint in NZ. Wondering who you bought yours from, not many been up for sale recently.

Whereabouts are you based? I'm on the southern outskirts of Auckland and Robert352 is in the Christchurch area.

Looks like you've successfully sorted your oil pressure out in the usual practical Kiwi way but happy to help with anything if I can.

Ah, yes, Ian Hendra. He and I swapped a number of parts while he was finishing his restoration and I building up the Mimosa Sprint. He brought the finished car up to Manfeild in Nov 2011 when I was last down there racing at their annual big classic event. I remember he had made a really excellent job of it. I thought I had a photo but can't find it for the life of me. I was surprised when about six months later he told me had sold it, but I gather they wanted to concentrate on the 1300cc 1987 Barina GTi that his son was racing at the time. Lost touch since.

I did buy an old 1850 engine and auto transmission from Trevor Bush somewhere down in Taranaki some years ago. He did work for Ross Calgher on a TR8 project. You might know Ross at least? In fact the 1850 engine was in such good shape (standard pistions and crank still) that we used it as the basis for the last racecar engine build we did, bored out of course.
