Toledo main light switch

The main light switch on my Toledo is playing up. Especially annoying as it is a daily driver at the moment.
If the switch used on any other cars?? Alternatively thinking of replacing it with a 3 position toggle switch! (my dash is already heavily "modified" (or hacked about, depending on your stance

)

Pre 71 MGB's had a 3 position light switch on the dash one pull for side lights second pull for headlight. The Triumph knob may fit on the stalk. Cant think of anything non Triumph with a rotary switch apart for old motorbikes . MGB switches should be plentiful .

Old Jaguars used a similar looking rotary switch in the centre of the dash. They did a standard three position one as well as a four position, the final one being used for fog lights. Don't know whether it would fit or how easily you could obtain a secondhand one as a new one is equally expensive as a new Triumph one.. However, there must be lots of aftermarket toggle switches available.
However, I have taken a couple of the existing rotary main light switch apart and fixed them. Wasn't that difficult and probably easier than adapting something else.

Cheers chaps. I will extract the switch and have a play. I can substitute a toggle switch as a temp solution.

Is it the same switch as the Dolomite?

It's a Toledo, doesn't have the column mounted rotary switch like a Dolomite one but a more conventional dash mounted switch.
I had one, left over from my Toledo remodel, but I may have already sold it! At a pinch, you could probably use a pull/twist/pull switch from a Herald/Vitesse or pre mkIV Spitfire. I'm off down to my caravan tomorrow for a week so not much chance to look before that.

I will have a go at taking it apart...
My question was based on the fact it is unbelievable (or not

) that the switch is unique to the Toledo.
If mine is not savable, I reckon a toggle switch is the way forward. Simple and just work..... a double pole 2 way jobbie will be ideal.

Well the later 2 speed Toledo wiper switch is shared (in both electric and manual wash forms) with the MkII GT6 and MkIV (not 1500) Spitfire. But IIRC, both those cars have a rocker light switch, so yes, you're probably right and the Tolly light switch is unique to the Tolly!
I do have a fairly extensive switch collection, garnered over many years and cars and can probably find something suitable and period - but not for a week or so, which is not much help!

Steve, don't worry.
I am not fretting about originality. Any decent toggle switch will do! Ebay here I come. Unless Maplins are still trading.
And yes, Spit/GT6 do indeed have central rocker switches. Bizarre t have a switch unique to one specific model of a car range. And we wonder what went wrong with he UK car industry.
