More driver legroom?

I'm looking at ways of moving / mounting the front seats further back to give more legroom - not worried about compromising space in the back.

However, as I would like to be able to restore the car to original at a later time, I don't want to go drilling more holes in the floorpan, nor cutting and welding the seat frame. Anyone done this or have any ideas?

Thanks

Geoff

I've had the same thoughts of late too, Geoff.
I'm 6'2", arthritic and I could do with some extra. So I'm keen to see the answers to this.
I remember my days of Mini Cooper S's with their Paddy Hopkirk seat extender brackets for us tallies. Pity that there's not something available "over the counter" to bolt on.

Any ideas anyone?

We have a Club weekend away to Hawkes Bay coming up in October. Its a good five hour drive each way so I need to do something or I won't last the distance!

Checkout James' RUK restoration thread (I think it's RUK might be DTR) He adapted some MGF seats to fit on the original mounts fairly simply and easily. Not fancy seats, just ordinary cloth covered ones. Still more comfortable and supportive than stock Dolly seats. (which cripple my back in very short order) He later decided he didn't like them and gave them to me. I fitted them to the Carledo and quickly found they didn't quite suit me either in squab height or reach (I'm 6' James is about 5'8") but the way he'd engineered the conversion allowed me to redrill and alter only the convo bits till it DID suit me and now I love them! Don't know if you HAVE MGFs in NZ mind, or how common scrappers are to rob! But MG ZR seats are almost identical, I have obtained a pair of half leather ones to go in my Sprint, I was so impressed!

Another option is to use Alfa 156 seats - I hear of them being used quite a lot in other old cars and there are plenty of 156s around in NZ
