now it wont start

my 1500 fwd which has been laid up for 25 years wont start. its been started regularly and i've had it out this last week everyday. i bought a new 38ah battery and put it on yesterday and now it wont start. it just keeps turning over but wont fire up. could this be connected to the battery?

Unlikely if the engine is turning over.
Do dials etc come to life?

Then it is on to std stuff. Start with is there a spark at the plugs.....
