Looking good Shaun.

What did Cliff do at the gutters with the vinyl, does it overlap slightly so the chrome gutter trim fits over it?

You are more than welcome! BTW the lower A post cards are trimmed with carpet, as per what has been done, but only on series 1 cars, (up to VA 15000), later models have black vinyl here!

I did wonder - and I think the carpet looks way better.

Hi Tony - sorry, only just spotted this post!

I'll go over and have a look later but it looks like he's got it going up to the gutter rail rather than over it which is good!

The car's going back to the Sprayer's soon for a bit of remedial work and whilst it's there I'll start installing the concentric clutch mechanism up - no way should any sprint have that God-awful slave cylinder/cross shaft rubbish set up. I have one of these fitted to my Track car and it hasn't given me a second's bother so this was a no brainer.

Image

Once sorted it'll be nailed to the engine, the engine dressed and when the car's back from the sprayers, all assembled in.

So done a few more things this week whilst the car is back at the sprayers for a few small rectifications...

...and then I've got the LSV seal kit from the club and refurbed these...

The Vinyl is only meant to go up to just below the top edge of the gutter. There SHOULD be around 8-10 clips (whole car) in 2 different specs that kinda keep the vinyl tight while you fit the gutter mouldings. These seldom survive the first respray and are NLA so you don't often see them.
If you have the vinyl lapped OVER the top of the gutter so it's under the trim, well in my experience, you don't! The trim won't go on, hard enough to get them on without damage when it's done right.Cliff does a "proper job"!

Didn't fancy trying to clean up the instrument bezels as being early, they have a partial black paint finish and with my sausage fingers, the chances of me being able to repaint them to a good enough standard is less than impossible!

To resolve this, I ordered new gauge glass, bezels and seals and have set about taking the gauges apart, cleaning them up and reassembling them; this is what I've done so far...

Thanks for your kind words Trevor!

I don't plan on spending as much on it as I did on my white Sprint, but it will be done properly....
Hmmm....don't know if I was being optimistic or really naïve, but the budget went out of the window years ago! 🫣
