Can anyone tell me if the automatic wiper park is on the switch or in the wiper motor? Thanks mo

Thanks Triumph1300, that's a new motor needed then, are they easy enough to change do you know?

Little bit of a faff to remove and refit the wiper motor on a fully built up car as you need to access the undrside of the dash to remove the linkage and 3 securing nuts from below to get the motor out! It's probably best to remove the instrument panel (curved dash cars) and/or the parcel tray to gain access. The wiring plug onto the motor itself is removed once the motor is loose, the last thing to come off before removal of the motor from the car (you can't physically get to it with the motor bolted down) I should have a couple of good used wiper motors if you need one, but often problems with the park are caused by broken/damaged wires on the park switch, which can be fixed with a soldering iron!........Once the motor is out, unfortunately!

But.....if your switch is faulty it doesn't park either. Or the supply at the fusebox......

Or bodged wires to/from the switch and once the bodge has been fixed the wipers run all the time!
I think the park switch relies on a spacer bewtween the motor shaft...and...can't remember, but I do remember it's easy to lose the spacer, basically a thick washer

Thanks for all the info, not as clear cut or simple then, there's a surprise. Nothing has been bodged so it must be a fault, If I can find my spare switch; it will make sense to hang that in first. The the motor coming out either way if the switch is good. PM sent Carledo.

After digging out my spare stalk switch and hanging it in, all is well with the wiper parking. That's good news, thanks for the offers of wiper motors, but not needed for now. Just a case of getting the wiper switch wiring down the steering column, done it before, but it's a pain. During testing it appears my brand new washer motor is as weak as could be, astonishing my original was 37 years old and still working, I only changed it out of sympathy. The new one last less than a year.

All Lucas parts in the green boxes are made in China and have nothing to do with Lucas. Lucas only resells.
