Hi all,

Thought I would take the opportunity to introduce myself.

I recently acquired a 1980 Dolomite 1300 found in a barn and will be restoring over the next year or two.

 I look forward to sharing my progress.

First day spent freeing the brakes, removing from barn and cleaning about 20 years of dirt off. See the progress below:

Does'nt look to bad now all the crap is off Nick Have you tried to start it yet?

Not yet Tony. Ordered points and condenser and will pick up some petrol and then see what we’re dealing with

Now up and running

Hi guys,

After getting the 1300 running, I'm after a few parts so I can begin to drive it and push closer to the MOT before undertaking any bodywork. My next area of focus is the clutch hydraulics. I am after a both master and slave cylinders and have created a summary of my intial sourcing research below.

I'm new to Dolomites! Does anyone know if I have explored all the avenues? Any advice on how to differentiate the clutch cylinders currently on the market would be much appreciated!

All I can advise is to buy nos girling or lockheed parts recognised by girling or lockheed in the casting itself. All others are Chinese reproductions which internals will solve when in contact with brake fluid....

Genuine new borg and beck is also genuine Chinese.

The first owner acquired it in 1980 and kept a detailed service record book until the second owner acquired it via a used car garage in 1990. They kept service record book up to date until they sought something safer for their young family in the late 90s. It spent a few years garaged and was then moved into the barn above, where I stumbled across it. I became the proud owner back in the summer of 2018 and recently moved it to drier and warmer surroundings where I can tinker.

first port of call would be Canleys then ANG, I'm not allowed to tell you to avoid Rimmers so I won't tell you that but personally I wouldn't use a company who charge more for inferior products.(that's my own personal opinion)
If you can buy NOS Girling. if the bores are ok you can reseal them of if you are a TDC member the club sell resleeved units, they aren't cheap but you'll fit it once and forget about it.
