Years ago I had an estate Cortina like that one. It's sills needed welding when it was five years old. Appalling when you think about it, but all British cars were much the same in those days.

I still have my void bush tools, not used them for a while, but you never know!
Congrats on getting a running 'Tina for £50, must be getting on for the bargain of the year! These are starting to make serious money now....... And I mean serious Blue Oval money! well worth investing a few hours welding in!

How come everyone with a cortina remembers void bushes

Rear wheel steering was the rage then, come to think of it i still have my void tool somewhere

There were even snide bushes around then.......
Tony.

I only ever had a couple of MkI 'Tinas and no void bushes in them! But as a professional mechanic, I sure got to change plenty.......
What's a snide bush? One where the failure sneaks up on you? Or just autocockup and you meant "solid"?

Really cheap ones that lasted a month

If you were lucky as the genuine ones (in my area) went on back order for a while
Tony.

I used to have a MK5 Cortina in the early 90s. It had an argument with a BMW 528 (E28). I got to know the owner of the BMW (I'll call him Mick). He was a dead ringer for Keith Lemon. I've agreed to buy a 1991 Toyota Celica GT so I'm just as bad myself. One the plus side, I've managed to bring the Corsa back to life. It now has a better chance of getting through the MoT.

Ah, must be a Cheshire dialect word! A new one on me! Snide in my vocabulary is a nasty sarky comment!
I remember, when new to this area, being asked by a black country work colleague where the "tundish" was, he explained to my blank look that a tundish is a funnel! Nothing divides us like our common language!

I was thinking that Steve

But strangely when i started work one of my jobs was to find and clean all the tundish's (I think that is the plural) and put them with the oil jugs. Dialects are great
Tony.

Naw, plural of tundish is tundishes! An apostrophe signals possession, ie something belonging to the tundish!
OCD grammar rules! (Grammar/Grammer? WTF? Head explodes violently!

)
Could be worse, proper Geordie is almost a different language!
