Can an 1850 standard cooling fan be fitted in place of a Sprint (failed) Torquatrol unit.
Basically; does it fit on the Sprint timing chain case and is there room for it to run between the case and the rad; ?
I assume I'll need to use an 1850 fan-belt ?
Thanks,
Tony.

I have no idea since the case it bolts to is different in depth to a Sprint one. But why bother anyway? Do what everyone else does and go electric!

An electric fan is certainly an option but there is the cost of purchasing and fitting such a fan and its controls.
I had a spare 1850 fan sitting here when the Torquatrol fan on my Sprint failed. It fitted without any problems at all and has been operating very satisfactorily since. It only required three bolts instead of the four to attach it to the timing cover on the Sprint. I suspect that I used the 1850 fan belt.
It sits very satisfactorily between the deeper Sprint timing cover and a standard Sprint radiator. There must be plenty of space for I can still drop the engine and sub-frame out of the car without me having to remove anything. A task which I have now done on a number of occasions.
