Carb bushing service

I recently had two HS6 carb bodies chemically cleaned, re-bushed and mating faces machined. It was £60 for the pair plus the VAT and postage. The carbs were turned round in a week. I can't guarantee you'll have the same level of service but it is a good place to start.

Useful to know. Burlen I think ask around a similar price to rebush a carb.

Crumbs, they are still going?! Bought a Zenith carb for a Volvo 240 DL that liked to drink in a typically robust Swedish style from them in 1987, which coincidentally is when their website was last updated (artistic license applied), and they had a great shop just filled with carbs of all sorts. Haven't been back since but as I've got a couple of worn early HS6 that I keep meaning to get fixed maybe a return visit is in order?!

I've seen a figure of £200 each on their website for a HS6 restoration, is this not correct then?

TFN did they provide the new spindle too or have you fitted that after the work?

Hello Tony, I supplied the spindle and disc and they fitted them after bushing the bodies to ensure everything was inline. I'm sure they would supply as well if asked.

Thanks for the recommendation. I've just had my spare carb bodies for the Spitfire (HS4) done by them, I'm very please with the quality of the work and the service.
Cheers, Sam

Good to hear, I'm glad the post was of help to you. I've been running the carbs for about 300 miles and the plugs look good. Unfortunately the clutch slave cylinder went last week......
