when rebuilding the upper ball joint,how do you check the adjustment ( think they call it end float )

i used bent feeler gauge and measured between circlip and washer,shim.....did mine 5-6years ago and no problems with them

Thanks for reply,had another look at the ball joints today,found out i hadnt fitted the plastic cap that fits under the ball joint,
