We've been looking at a pair of carbs; on an early Sprint and the odd thing is that only the front carb; has a fuel overflow drainage pipe. There is no facility fitted for the overflow on the rear carb;
The Parts book only quotes Qty 1-off for the external overflow pipe and even the Sprint workshop manual says in the section on carb; overhaul " Remove the pipe from the front carb; only "

Yet my 1850 of a similar vintage has fuel overflow pipes on both carbs; Why the difference ?
Surely its not penny pinching of the worst order on the Sprint is it ?
Ta.

Cannot answer your question to why. But you are certainly correct. My 1973 sprint only has the overflow on the front carb.
