New Quarterlight Rubbers

#1 Post by xvivalve »

I've sourced a price for commissioning tooling and manufacture of new quarterlight rubbers in EPDM 60 shore rubber. They would be made in the UK by a company who specialises in such things and supplies other car Clubs with similar products.

It would represent a significant outlay by the Club, using almost all of the current spares fund and there are minimum quantities involved.

If we commissioned xx car sets, the minimum quantity, they would work out at approximately £xxx per car set delivered to members' UK addresses (slightly more for overseas orders)

If we 'pushed the boat out' and commissioned xx car sets, the cost to members would reduce to approximately £xxx per car set, delivered to members' UK addresses (slightly more for overseas orders); the significant reduction is due to the hefty tooling costs being split over the larger quantity. Whilst they'd only be sold in complete car sets to avoid us being left with odd quantities, at £xx.xx per rubber, I think they are reasonably priced....but would there be a demand for xx sets?

Please express your interest/opinions below.

If this proves to be viable, the Club would need a deposit of £50 from interested parties as commissioning some 1300 fwd precision engineered subframe mounts at cost earlier in the year, one person who had confirmed interest then decided they couldn't afford them!

UPDATE
These are now in stock, both front and rear.

We've also managed a 10% reduction on our original estimate:

£140 for a car set or £70 for a pair of front or rear, both with free postage to UK addresses

A 'car set', for clarity, consists two rear quarterlight rubbers and two front quarterlight rubbers, ie four in total.

I'd like to acknowledge all that gets done by the Club's volunteers - taking time out of their own busy schedules for no remuneration.

Thank you for all the hard work and patience, from everyone involved - not only for the quarter light seals, but everything else the Club provides.
