Hi all.
Does anyone know what the "s" means at the end of a sprint gear box number. Eg VA **** S. ?
Also, if only the output shaft is present (I. E. No no overdrive or rear extension) how can I check to see if its an OD box or non OD box??

Thanks all
John

No idea what the S means, you sure it’s not a 5?

An overdrive ‘box will have a cam on the outputshaft that drives the oil pump in the overdrive, a non overdrive ‘box doesn’t have one.

I think a non od box has the tail shaft threaded for a nut (to fit the flange) but OD box doesn't.

This is correct ^^^^^^ Overdive mainshaft ends in a spline.

The overdrive mainshaft is also considerably shorter!
