Hi Guys.


Don't know if any of you have experienced this but my hazards work but I'm not getting any power to the indicator stalk, horn works and so does full and flash but no power is going to the indicator part of the stalk. Also my wipers and sauirters don't work either !! Is there any fuses in between or anything that could be stopping this ??


Where are the earth points located also ? When I push the brake pedal the back lights don't light up but the fasten seatbelts sign does !!!

My guess would be the hazard switch, blast some contact cleaner in it and work it on/off gently a couple of times?

In the fusebox you will find a fused set of white wires on one side and green wires on the opposite side. There is your fault. Maybe it's the fuse itself or one of the green wires isn't connected properly.

The white is ignition on from the ignitionswitch side and the greens are the fused side.

I checked the wires in the fuseboard, took it out cleaned all the contacts and fuses then put it all back in, I did think that hazard switch as that works so it should just divert power from there Into the stalk, I have a spare.some I'll go get that and replace it and try my luck again.

The hazard switch does disconnect the feed to the indicator relay when the switch is "on". As your indicators and wipers don't work it's a "green wire" issue. Is your heater blower motor working?

The Part 2 of your question is a real enigma.
Has the car always been like this ?
Has the car been re-wired ?
The reason being is that the brake light switch switches the high ( +12V ) side of the supply to the brake light bulbs at the back, whereas the seat-belt light has its switches on the low ( earthy ) side.
So a simple short between the Green / purple wire and the Light Green / orange seat belt wire would blow the fuse. It would also light the seat belt light all the time the IGN was on.
Just as a try-out can you plug-in both seat belts to the stalks. Does this modify the problem at all ?
From memory the seat belt stalks are earthed locally at the transmission tunnel. The brake light bulbs are earthed at the back at the light clusters.

Do the heater blower or the reverse lights work? if not then I would suggest that one of the two fuses under the bonnet against the bulk head have blown. Also does the seat belt warning light only illuminate when you press the brake pedal AND the side lights are on? If so I would also think one of the stop/tail lights has blown or there is a faulty earth one the rear lights, in that situation this could then give a 12v feed to the seat belt warning light when the side lights are on and the brake pedal is pressed which if no seat belt is inserted could result in the seat belt warning light illuminating when the pedal is pressed. Very convoluted and frankly unlikely but possible, Easy to check exactly what still works and also check the fuse, then check the earths on the rear lights.

Be nice to know if it is anywhere near correct! Think I might try it out on my car, remove the fuse and snip a couple of earths........
