Early Sprint Fuel Pump

Gradually sorting through my piles of various spares and came across a fuel pump, as new still in it poly bag. AC Delco XP90038. Looked up the number and it says Triumph Dolomite 1972 -

Thing is it looks different to all the "repro" ones advertised, the one on my car and the one in the parts book. The arm looks OK but the one of the connections comes out vertically.

Will it fit a Sprint?

Thanks

Roger

Hi Roger, yes it is the very early 1850 pump. It fit's without the need for a spacer. A rare find especially being an AC Delco one :D :D

Thanks for the confirmation, I was a little uncertain because of the vertical outlet connection.

I will hang onto it for now as a spare, I assume it will fit my Sprint - in my experience New Old Stock originals of most parts are often much better than modern re-manufactured items.

This version of the "early" fuel pump is shown in the diagrams in the early Dolomite 1850 workshop manual in sections 19.45.05 to 19.45.15. It then shows a picture of the "standard early" fuel pump. So I imagine it was also fitted to the Sprint as well.
