... and do you change genre depending on which vehicle you drive?

When in my 2.0 JTS I usually listen to the radio, something like Smooth or Jazz FM. When driving the 3.2 GTA I usually play rockier CDs

In my classic's i usually just listen to the engine/exhaust note..... music to my ears from a time gone by. In my modern i'm a radio 2 man, or if i remember to bring cd's a bit of the Who, Led Zepp ect as you don't hear anything in a eurobox But they do have good sound systems

The Carledo lacks any sort of sound system except the "Straight Thru Orchestra" For one thing there's no soundproofing, also, speakers are HEAVY!

In my more normal and civilised cars I mainly use a self burned CD with 16 of my all time favourite tracks lasting 88 mins in total. This will get me a fair distance before repeating. Mostly rock, Golden Earring, Meatloaf, Steppenwolf, Sabbath, Chuck Berry, Dire Straits all feature but some mellower tracks too from the Kinks, the Eagles and Eric Clapton. I'll let you lot guess the exact tracks! Bonus points if you get the tracks from the Charlie Daniels Band and David McWilliams, no Googling!

On longer journeys, if I get bored with the burner, I mainly listen to Floyd or Dire Straits, but I also have 2 of the multi Disc compilation CDs titled "While my guitar gently weeps" which, to me at least is good music to drive to!

I don't find any difference in what I listen to according to car, I drive everything the same way and listen to the same music!

A few years ago I decided to digitize all the LPs, cassette tapes and CDs that I’ve collected up over many years. Well over 4000 tracks now on the computer hard drive as I’ve downloaded newer tracks over the last five years or so. Out of those I’ve selected about half which are copied to a 32GB mini SD card in my phone and to a couple of USB memory sticks. I now plug in and play music from a USB stick in cars with a more modern stereo or from my phone to a decent portable bluetooth speaker in the couple of cars without any radio/ stereo fitted. That works so well I wouldn’t consider bothering to fit a radio and speakers to any car in future. Both phone and speaker can be charged via a twin USB socket in the old cigarette lighter socket. Normally I will just set to random play as it is easy to skip tracks until I find something that suits my mood at the time. It used to help me keep my sanity while sitting in the car for over two hours a day commuting.

Of course at the moment we are under Covid 19 lockdown here, I'm now retired and with only essential travel allowed, I listen more to YouTube than I've ever done before. Great to see people like Andrew Lloyd Webber put so much great stuff up for us to watch / listen to for free.

When i purchased my current & previous car I was disappointed that there was no CD player just a USB port + a radio, so all my music had to be transfer onto a memory stick. The majority of my music is from the middle to late 80's and early 90's but one track i do like to play is Days like these by Matt Munroe when Im out in my 18 plate Giulia Veloce just fancy I trip up the Alps whilst it playing, but then if i was going up the alps I would want to go in a quad with the windows down in race mod - now that a sound track to listen to

In the GT V6 I have a Bose and in the JTS (very rare in the Sportwagon variant. Around 5 registered in the UK) Blaupunkt CD/radio.

Growing up in a family of Soul lovers, that influence has always been a constant. In the Dollies I used to play Sly and The Family Stone, Heatwave, Earth Wind & Fire, Chic, KC and The Sunshine Band etc etc... all on cassette.

Nowadays I have a Northern Soul compilation, as well as New Wave stuff such as Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson... but I only keep two CDs in the car at one time, so it pretty much depends on the mood.

As neither of my Triumphs have radios fitted and the fact that modern systems seem far too much of a faff (let alone expense) to fit, this seams like a good idea. I don't suppose it will ever work as well as a decent system fitted in a modern (quiet) car, but I reckon it would be a good compromise. Any recommendations for Bluetooth speakers anyone?

The Daihatsu and the Merc 614 are just too noisy, and wth the Sprint I like to hear the engine, and the sounds of bits dropping off so I can pull up and retrieve them. Though it's latest thing is proving my long held beliefs that they run well when constantly run, no problem as a daily driver for years but parked up in storage due to housing issues (I'm supposed to be on Yell, Shetland, not Doddington, Cambs) for 3 months meant that when I finally could give it a run out it decided to dump the coolant through the magic water pump hole.

I bought mine getting on for 5 years ago and it is still going strong - KS Ignite Mini.

While I didn't buy it specifically for using in the Dolomite, I've found it fits neatly on the parcel shelf below where the radio would have been fitted and equally sitting in the tray underneath (Later model Sprint). Doesn't slide around when cornering either!
