Hi,

I’ve refurbished a set of Sprint Alloys to put on my 1300, but can’t find a set of 16 3/8 sprint wheel nuts anywhere. Would anyone be able to sell me some? Or are there any other types of nuts that would do the job?

Many Thanks,

I couldn't find the alloy ones in 3/8ths when I looked. Robsport have steel replacements: https://robsport.co.uk/index.php/online ... nt-3-8-unf
Not cheap. I suspect you can find others from the dimensions - I got (still have somewhere) a set of nuts to fit Minilite sports om 3/8th studs. Can't remember why I needed new nuts, but I assume it's because they are a different thickness or hole diameter.

Pretty certain that the sprint nuts are just about unique.
However, you may, just may, be able to recreate them using a sleeve nut and washer
This website may help

However, unless a good set of alloy nuts can be sourced (the threads are easily damaged, so they need checking) a new set of steel nuts may be the simple and sensible option.

I got mine from Rimmers. But I see they are out of stock right now. Expensive nuts!

There's a set on ebay [https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-dolo ... .l4275.c10], but the seller doesn't say if 3/8ths or 7/16ths and is asking a lot IMO. Still, if you want a set enough, it could be worth asking if he knows the thread size.

I found the chrome sleeve nuts I got to fit the Minilite Sports on the Doly, and they are a couple of mm thinner and longer than the alloy ones. So probably no use to you.

Even if they are 3/8”, they’re bloody expensive!

Too right. That being said, I just paid £13.10 for 6 roughish ones that were badly listed on ebay - didn't say Dolomite or Sprint. I was down to 3 spares, one of which is a new, unused one, the other 2 are a bit too good for my Doly, and I want 4 more to replace the locking nuts currently fitted - I think.

I'm trying to work out what shank diameter the right nuts are. The ones I have from fitting the minilites are 3/8ths UNF, 11/16ths AF, and 5/8ths dia by 3/4" long sleeve. I measure the alloy Sprint wheel nut sleeves 17mm +/- 0.05 dia by 1/2" long. But the grimmer steel ones I have to hand are 17.2 mm +/- 0.1. I only have one TR7 nut for alloys to hand (which is 7/16 thread, 22mm AF, and washered down from a 1/2" long sleeve to 9mm anyway) and that's 17.3mm diameter.

I'm guessing then that the holes in the Sprint wheels are 11/16ths (17.462mm), and you can get 3/8ths UNF x 11/16 dia sleeve nuts for wolfrace wheels. I'm not sure how long the sleeves are, so how much thickness of washers would be needed, if that's feasible. Maybe they could be shortened and threads cleaned with a plug tap, if there's more time than money available.
