Any problems in modifying a late Sprint bumper to take early number plate light unit?

Are there any problems in modifying a late Sprint bumper to take the single large number plate light unit?
I take it that modifying a 913434 is too much like hard work. Anybody want one?

When you have drill I don't see any problems.

Forgive ignorance, what is 913434? Toledo?
Only minor difficulty is drilling through chrome.

I don't know either. It has holes for single number plate light, but none for the chrome coach bolts, and different internal brackets for the bumper irons.

Ah! Think that is the early 1850 bumper! IIRC, it needs the matching bumper irons to fit properly.
Probably also 1500FWD.

Ok, but I can't find any reference to different irons beyond this thread
https://forum.triumphdolomite.co.uk/vie ... 75#p252660, which includes this picture:
The upper bumper being PN 913434 and the lower being 917657 - though I think XKC1680 would look the same.
The thing there is the "old" iron looks to me to be the same as the "new" one, suggesting the difference is in the mounting on the car and the irons to mount 913434 in place of 917657 would have to be made special. Given that 917657 is only about £50 new (don't know if that NOS or Rimmer "quality" remanufactured), seems unlikely to be worth it.

Look more closely at the pics of 917657 and you will see there are spacers between the iron and the bumper to space it back, this is how to use the later bumper on an early car with early irons. But it doesn't work the other way round unless you want to cut an inch or so out of the late irons (4 places) to make an early bumper fit a late car. (Early irons have long been NLA) Or fab your own irons as you suggested.
As you say, with the correct bumper being available, why bother? Someone who OWNS an early 1850 will probably be pleased to take the 913434 off your hands!

Looking closely at the pic of 917657, the spacers are clearly not nearly, by about an inch, long enough to fit the later bumper on an early car with early irons.
