Hi all. I'm trying to source some info on using Mini Cooper S big end bearings, I need a quality set of oe or similar std bearings for my Sprint engine being built by Mad Mart, and I'm struggling to find Vandervell or Glacier. Only King ones seem available, but I ve read here somewhere that this mod possible and even an improvement on oe
Can anyone assist?

All the bearing dimensions (incl. Cooper-S) are published in the Glyco catalogue, sadly no listing for slant 4 Triumphs.

I've just had a reply from Rob MacGregor at Sprintspeed and he says:-
I've used King bearings in my own engines, and to date haven't had any issues at all.

King bearings are proper tri metal bearings that will do fine BUT, these are not so recent stock. King is putting County bearings in their boxes for over ten years now. When you find a King box with King bearings these are fine to use but not all have these in them.
Jeroen
Edit: In the slant four boxes. King does still make tri metal bearings but for the Dolomite/TR7 they probably don't want to make any efforts anymore and just put County bearings in their boxes.

I've just sold a load of Vandervell Cooper S bearings, typical.

Just checked a +10 set of King I have on the shelf, bought about 3 years ago; big ends are County, Mains are King. I'm half happy with that!
