Hi,

Is there any specific way to fit the Dolomite roof gutter trims?

Tried getting mine on yesterday, I’m finding if I hold the trim in place on the a pillar, the rear part is about a foot away from the car! I’m assuming that this should offer up without force, pushing the hooked top section over the gutter, then rolling the lower part down and clipping into place.

I did get the bit on down past the screen and the rear part too, but the middle section would not clip into place - just kept pinging off! Bringing a section of paint with it!

I’m assuming they must be very slightly distorted....if anyone has a good pair they don’t need please let me know, wanted ad placed.

Hi Chris I refitted mine a month or so ago.
I think when they are removed, (I starting at the back) they tend to get slightly bent out.
Very carefully try to reshape before you attempt to refit.
I would imagine they are priceless and while fitting mine I was thinking what happens if I
ruin one. Perhaps someone will say a alternative is possible.

A little distortion is inevitable when removing these mouldings, but it shouldn't be a problem refitting them (except for the pain you get from smacking them on with your palm, which is how I fit them)

My experience suggests that trying to straighten them off the car will result in irreparable damage.

Sprints after VA 9547 had a couple of clips each side, part numberZKC1298 to help them stay on, plus 1 each side at the point where the vinyl roof ends on the A post part number ZKC0188. These clips are often lost/left off when the car is resprayed or the vinyl roof replaced.

I have a couple of spare pairs of these mouldings, but persevere with yours a bit first, mine are unlikely to be much better and shipping them is a total PITA!

I recently put mine back on and expected the worst, however they went back reasonably well.

As you say, if you place the hooked section over the gutter, then using your palm strike it firmly in a downward motion. I must admit, for some of the chrome trim I've used a small dab of PU sealant rather than take the paint off with the clips where I have struggled - i didn't need it for the gutters, but it may be a solution if there isn't too much tension pulling it off.

Ive had this problem - they do distort when they are removed.
The last few ive done - apply a bead of tiger seal to the gutter at the front windscreen pillar, clip the trim on this section only and clamp overnight. The tiger seal will bond it on very firmly. Then you can refit the rear section of the trim, bending it gently to fit as needed. It wont pop off at the front while you do this now.
Only downside is removal in the future will be difficult!
