Silicon hoses and kenlowe fan temperature switch

Time for silicon hoses in black I think. I could get the Roose kit for a Weber Sprint but they are mostly straight or elbows. I thought I may be able to buy separately and make a set up cheaper, Anyone done this and what is the ID of each pipe ?
I also want to ditch the in top hose sensor for the kenlowe. If I buy one of the metal in line types, what do you do with the copper bulb used now and how would you connect the in hose switch ?

Yes I have done but, to be fair, at that time (2012) silicone hose kits weren't available for slant four Dolomites.
Hose sizes are 32mm, 16mm, 13mm and either 8 or 6mm (late or early thermostat housing respectively).

You could go for the Revotec inline sensor and do away with the bulb. This is one on my TR7 with its cover off to see the temp cut-in adjuster screw.

Yes, I would second the use of the Revotec inline sensor/controller. It comes complete with a relay and full installation instructions. Have used on both my Sprints for some years now on both a standard and a Porsche 944 radiator. Very reliable. Fit, adjust and forget.

Does the revotech mean I do away with the Kenlowe thermostat adjuster ? The copper pipe seems to be built in. If I get a revotech , how does it connect up and what part of the Kenlowe sep up is removed ? Thanks guys...

i using silicon hoses on mine,and am about to fit electric fan on mine interested in how your going to control your fan

I previously used a generic unit with a bulb that sounds similar to the Kenlowe one (although I'm not familiar with that make). Yes, the Revotec unit it is a direct and entire replacement, just uses more modern technology and looks neater. It has two wires that trigger the relay and that is connected to the fan. Instructions and wiring diagram are part of the kit.

Functionally there is little difference so if your Kenlowe one still works perfectly well, changing becomes more just a choice rather than a necessity. Personally I prefer the Revotec one as it looks a lot neater in situ, but I did install it to replace my bulb one as it had failed.

Incidentally, it does replace a small section in the top hose in a standard setup so the hose has to be cut in the middle and a small section removed. However, if you have fitted an alternative radiator that requires a longer top hose, it acts as a means of extending the hose. It could also join two hoses as you might need to with silicon hoses - just a thought

Yes you can throw away all the Kenlowe stuff, the Revotec has a neat little built in screw adjuster to set the operating temp you want. Has its own relay/loom, just the two wires to join to the fan motor, a 12v feed and an earth required. This is in my Sprint engined TR7.
