Did you know and I am wondering, if anyone knows why when our cars were built the trailing suspension arms had different mounts fitted at either end of the trailing arms? The front mount, part 152308, had a very complex shape to its rubber and the workshop repair manual states it needs to be installed in the position illustrated.






The rear mount was, part number 149827, and was just a simple cotton real shape. In due course both of these mounts have been replaced by a part ULC1580, which is just a simple cotton real design.

I would say it is to do with the ride Richard, similar to the Ford "void" bush. The void one's seem to be unavailable now or i would buy some for my Dolly, as the PO replaced them with an orange coloured poly and there is a slight vibration and firm ride. The same thing happened with Ford's when you replaced with "solids".

The void is to allow the arm to twist in the mount in a restricted plane to take account of the fact that as the wheel rises and falls in relation to the other side the axle rotates about the car's centre. The bush allows some give to enable the arm to follow the axle.

While these were still available new,
Sprintspares sold the void bushes at a lower price than the solid version.

It was the orange polys ive fitted
