stamped in chassis number

I have been having correspondence with the DVLA for a few months regarding the chassis no. on the V5 not being the same as on the chassis plate on my 1500fwd. V5 is YB58118DL, on the chassis plate YB58718DL. I sent photos of the chassis plate and the car, and a copy of the heritage certificate which gave the correct key no, paint code, engine no etc. Their latest request is for a photo of the stamped in chassis no on the body. Any ideas where this may be?

There isn't one. Except for on very late Dolomites with the long VIN number, then it's stamped into the boot gutter. On your 1500 the plate on the inner wing is the only number it will have.

I looks pretty damn obvious that this is a DVLA cock up from an earlier date when numbers were written and someone mistook a 7 for a 1.
Unfortunately the DVLA are unlikely to admit to it being their error.

Probably easier to get a new chassis plate made to match the V5

After passing on everything you all told me I finally got my V5 back with the correct number.

Well done mate! it's near impossible to get the DVLA to correct a cock up!
