What's the correct position for the window winder handle.

An absolutely trivial issue, but in what direction should the winder handles point when the window is fully raised to minimize being knocked, and the window opening a bit, when you get out of the car?

I like mine to point forwards. If you think of a clock face, at nine o'clock. That seems to be best for me.

It annoys my OCD that you never seem to be able to get all 4 the same!

Mainly, I think because the spindle the handle fits to is 4 sided and the drive gear on the mechanism has 8 teeth (or thereabouts, haven't counted one lately) But the gear can be fitted in a different relationship to the quadrant and still work, I don't think they cared enough at the manufacurers to get them all aligned the same.

I do TRY to get them all similar but I prefer the 6 o'clock position, (or 7.30, 4.30 on the N/S) then if you do nudge it, it's usually in the closing direction.
