Has anyone ever successfully removed a dipstick tube from a block...in a condition that allows its re-use in another block, that is?

With grip vice and impact puller. Have something in the tube with the same diameter not to crush the tube and use an impact puller, don't know the UK word but the similar device as to take out the waterpump.

I believe I did hammer one out from the underside also once but the above was with an engine in situ. Because of the injection plenum the dipstick was unreachable so took the pipe out and made another longer one to put in.
