Steve,
I have just committed a most heinous sin - no, not like the parrot we call Onan. I have just used a Scotchlock; even despite the most recent exchange.
My defence, and the basis for request of absolution, is that it was only to power the radio. I've been suffering for a long time for it being powered off the ignition circuit, so it goes off with the engine. But I finally got a round tuit and connected it to the white and pink wire off the first position of the ignition switch. But I was not going near the connector, So I chose to wire it in by committing the aforementioned grievous sin.
So I petition for absolution or at least a moderately light penance - please not crawling on hand and foot to the birthplace of the sainted George Herbert Skinner (who had an interesting CV); it's in Northamptonshire!

The 16v Slant 4 engine is more fun than the 3.5 V8, because you mostly drive it on the upslope of the torque curve.

"It's only the .......... " is a slippery slope! I don't even use the cursed things when wiring a towbar and several of them are included in the connection kit!
But it's your car, you can (and probably WILL) do what you want with it! So, in nomine patri, et filii, et spiritu sancti, Amen!

As long as it works, and as long as I don't have to take the steering column or the ignition switch out, I doubt it will nag me even on a bad day. And in the second and third situations, it will not be high on the list of worries.
Thanks for the in nomine patri... But isn't it me that says Amen?
Actually, I gave up on religion to become "half past eight" in the West Midlands.
