Door Stays

I was looking for a rear door stay for Richard Hyde, he described it as 's' shaped.
I checked and couldn't find one so today went to my lock up and found one.
Thing is I now have 3 different types, so did early cars have a different shape reardoor stay, as the longer curved one is off VA485?

I think you'll find the short, straight middle one is from a Herald!

No that's the front door stay.

Never had a Herald!

straight and curved (middle+left) are as per early parts book and as fitted to our '73 car.
S shape is later rear part

Cheers for the confirmation

So do the back doors on later cars open wider as the stay looks longer, wonder why they changed it?

Something else to look out for to check an early car is genuine.

Can't help with the question about later doors etc. I don't have anything to compare to. If I get chance I'll scan the pages from the early/late parts books and post the part numbers for anyone needing to compare in future.

Every day a school day!

The earliest (4 door) car i've owned was a Sprint in the VA10k range, still a series 1 car but one of the last, registered in late 75. If I remember right, it had the S shaped straps in the back doors and certainly all my later cars have had them like that. I wasn't even aware there WAS an earlier type!

Of course, that means little when doors and/or straps could have been changed out in the past.
