I think my seat broke

#1 Post by Bunji »

Was driving along yesterday, and my drivers seat made a popping noise. It now seems to be a bit saggy when sitting in.

Has anyone else experienced this? Would it be a broken spring(s)?

Sounds as if you’ve burst the rubber diaphragm…

Can you order a replacement?

If you have the wider HL seats, then yes, as the Club had them remanufactured a few years ago.

If you have the narrower seats, we found there were three or four varieties of diaphragm fitted, and whilst we started investigations about a common fit, the nonsense of the last few years meant it was never concluded...

Best thing is if you unbolt the seat and have a look at the underside; the damage should be plainly evident. Some folk have had success repairing with Pirelli webbing

It's a 72 Toledo so I'm guessing it's the narrower seat?

Looking in the early Toledo parts catalogue it references 569944 for the diaphragm.
