How many Toledos worldwide?

#1 Post by Bunji »

Does anyone have an idea of how many Toledos may be still in existence?

Other than the UK and New Zealand, what markets were they sold in?

You can get UK numbers from https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/triumph_toledo

Quite a lot of people like to question whether these numbers are accurate, but it shouldn't be too bad: https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/about#accuracy

Someone just posted a photo of their Maltese Toledo on facebook, not sure what other countries it was sold in.

I saw one just outside Polis (Cyprus) a good few years ago... It was a right-hand drive car and Cyprus drive on the same side as 'us', so could well have been sold there. Don't know for certain.
Greece & Turkey both drive on the right, so unlikely to have been shipped over from either of those.

Carjam.co.nz says the following are still recorded by NZTA. However, that will include anything 'on hold' as well as some that have been deregistered in the recent past due to not being registered or placed 'on hold' over the preceding two years. Same issues with vehicle model/descriptions with Dolomites and most other cars from that era when what was recorded depended on what the original hand filled out registration document said.

Make  Model Year  Count
TRIUMPH TOLEDO 1972 19
TRIUMPH TOLEDO 1973 19
TRIUMPH TOLEDO 1974 17
TRIUMPH TOLEDO 1975 12
TRIUMPH TOLEDO 1971 9
TRIUMPH TOLEDO 1500 1974 4
TRIUMPH TOLEDO 1976 4
TRIUMPH TOLEDO 1977 3
TRIUMPH TOLEDO 1500 1973 2
TRIUMPH TOLEDO 1500 1975 2
TRIUMPH TOLEDO 1500 1977 1
TRIUMPH 1300 TOLEDO 1971 1
93

Same data source says there are 114 Dolomites but only 8 are Sprints. We know that is incorrect as many Sprints were just registered as Dolomites.

I don't know a way of extracting more detailed data without having access to the individual registration numbers.
