I bought this This Carmine Red car about three years ago and have lavished
much TLC on it during that period. The car is known to the TDC as it was
owned for several years in the 1990s by Ted Middleton, who carried out
extensive bodywork restoration and engine rebuilding.
I have a filing box full of receipts for the work and parts Ted had done and
fitted during his ownership, likewise for some of the subsequent owners
including myself.
In addition, I have a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate from
1989, detailing the car's production history. In addition, there are three
Triumph World magazines featuring the Dolomite Sprint published in the early
2000's. and a commemorative china plate with a photo of OUL 702R sealed in
the centre of it; Ted truly loved his car! I have a photo album containing Ted's records of the restoration work he had
carried out.
The car has a factory fitted limited slip diff. overdrive , Sundym tinted
glass, a laminated windscreen, inertia reel front seat belts and headrests,
all of which were optional extras when supplied new by Henlys Ltd. London
NW1.
A Thatcham category 1 alarm is fitted together with a tracker. Electronic
ignition was fitted by Ted along with stainless steel silencers for the
standard exhaust system and a four way fuse box.
To summarise some of the work, that I have carried out had done during my
ownership:
I added a relay to the starter motor circuit, fitted a Revotec thermostatic
electric cooling fan. The prop shaft has been balanced its central bearing
replaced and new UJ's fitted. The rear gearbox mounting has been replaced,
reconditioned callipers (from the Club} fitted, new steering rack mounts,
track rod ends, and a new steering column intermediate shaft and UJ's. The
coil was also replaced.
Additionally, I have replaced the water pump, all the water hoses ,
thermostat and the brass header tank have also been replaced. Together with
a new fuel pump, all the fuel supply rubber hoses have been replaced with
the latest ethanol resistant specification. Four premium Uniroyal tyres,
were fitted less than 1500 miles ago.
The car has an MOT.
The current Insurance valuation accepted by the ERS / RH Insurance classic
car policy underwriter is £17,250. I am looking for £15,500.
