Dip Stick sleeve oil leak.

The dip stick sleeve that the dip stick slides into has a slight oil leak where it meets the block.

It’s a slow drip onto the block.

Is there anyway to stop this ??

Is there a sealant that can be applied or a solder ??

Any help greatly accepted.

Richard.

On the top of the Dip stick there's meant to be a felt washer, if that's missing may be the oil is leaking out and running down the Dip stick tube

Thanks Dave I will check if the felt washer is intact.

It seems to be coming out of the base of the sleeve where it meets the block.

Is it common that the sleeve leaks at the block ??

Is your crankcase breather blocked at all?
If you've got positive pressure in the block this will make that situation worse...

No chance of soldering, the block will act as a heat sink. If it really is leaking there, your best bet will be to thoroughly clean it (brake cleaner, scuffed knuckles, maybe celly thinners, then wire brush etc then clean again. Then apply a sealant, or I wonder if something like bearinglok or threadlok would get into any gaps better.
But before that a good clean to assertain where exactly the leak is coming from.

As Shaunroche suggested that you checked that the crankshaft breather. I thought that I would post a photograph of the wire flash guard that is under the plate in the rocker cover as I anticipate that most owners have never considered what was under the plate. I do not think it would actual block here more likely to be in the breather hoses.

Gents

Thank you for all the suggestions.

I will work through them this weekend and see if I can sort the issue out.

Will repost with an update.

Thanks

Richard.
