Brake pedal return spring

#1 Post by RichardHyde »

Hi all,

I think my pedal return spring is too long !!

I’ve swapped the 1300 flat dash to Sprint / 1850 curved dash. I notice that the part number for 1300s is 153902, whereas for other models it’s 154834. Does the 1300 have a longer spring ?

I’m trying to fit the hooks into the holes drilled into the brake pedal (216082 same across the range) and the steering support column (723406 for 1300s and 720382 for other models).

Please can somebody confirm the length of the non-1300 spring ?

I’m hoping my parts book research has answered my own question !

Thanks, Richard

having just fitted the spring on m sprint, I found the same issue, after a lot of research I found the spring doesnt actually go in the hole in the pedal, but actually hooks around the back of the pedal, thats why it has long straight bit.

I’ve got a couple of pictures from other members and their spring does go through the hole in the brake pedal.

I wonder why there’s a hole in the pedal, if it’s not for that spring ?

I ended up bending the shorter spring (thanks Alun), putting one end through the pedal and the other through the steering bracket…
