First electric Dolomite ?

Copied from Facebook…

Hello All!
Following Marty Dolomite's post, I thought I should properly introduce my electric converted Dolomite.
I restored and converted this green machine after it was off the road for 20 years. It is not one for the purists, but I wanted to try something different and give electric a go.
It is a joy to drive, very nippy, handles great and costs hardly anything to run. It is also the only classic I see on the road doing my 40 mile round trip daily commute!
130 miles of range, same weight as the petrol car, but lost some boot space. Fully reversible if you were so inclined.
Registering a converted EV is complicated, and it massively differs case to case. I had to get mine Q plated, which I am not too bothered about. Part of the car’s story now.
I appreciate it won’t be for everyone, but I am interested in hearing the groups thoughts.
Cheers!

Could the owner be persuaded to join the Forum and tell us more about the build ? This is very interesting indeed.

Done, but I guess he might ask you to look at Facebook !!

And I asked him to come to TDCIR

Looking at the description and rules for that Facebook group, it doesn't look like a very welcoming place for Triumph Dolomite Club members;
This group is not affiliated to the Dolomite club in any way.
No promotion of clubs is allowed on the group. Posts doing so will be deleted and persistent offenders removed from the group.
Seemingly the admin(s) seem to have a problem with us

It would be great to see more details on this car. Perhaps the owner could be persuaded to join https://www.facebook.com/groups/officialTDCgroup if not this Forum? Non-Club members are welcome to join.

Hello Richard,
I`m about to do an electric conversion of my 1850HL Dolly (Netgain Hyper9 based)
I would love to know a bit more about your conversion- any issues, battery selection etc
I`m planning to keep the gearbox and drive through the clutch assembly (non operating)
I would be interested as to which method you used.
How much did the conversion cost you?

With thanks,
Ian

Richard doesn't own the car, he just kindly shared the text of a Facebook post with us.

Yes, when Col Hughes who set that group up lost interest, he handed the admin to a couple of folk who were exceptionally anti TDC, mainly based on the fact they didn’t want to members but wanted all of the benefits and went further to claim the club was profit obsessed!
