Hi All

I am going to fit relays to the headlamps as I am upgrading to
Halogen. Where on a 1978 Sprint would I find the cables
from the dip switch to the headlights, so I can split them
to wire in the relays.

I put my relays behind the dash and split into the loom at the steering column plugs. I didn’t want my inner wings to be cluttered with the upgrade but it is your car so you can chose.

Could anyone tell me if the dip switch to headlight

down the bottom of the R/H inner wing.

Yes, you will find a single lead for dip (blue/red) and main (blue/white) the majority of the length of the loom along the O/S chassis leg, eminently suitable for firing relays.

Good practice says the relays should be as close to the lamps they are powering as practically possible. To me, this means the offside flitch above the battery.

I use relay blocks that contain integral fuse holders so I can fuse the headlights at the same time, in the modern style of individual fuses (and separate leads) for l/h dip, r/h dip, l/h main and r/h main. Typically the relay blocks I use have 3 fuse holders each so I use the "spare" one on the dip relay to power a fused feed for rear foglight.

Jeroen (SOE8M) made my front loom for my sprint.

Relays for the light, horn and cooling fan.

Requires the main loom cutting below the battery / near the rad - a couple of connectors added and then plugged into a new harness for the lights etc.

The old one had been bodged, cut, connectors removed etc etc, and was having issues with the lights. I'd made a plug and play loom myself, but it relied on the old wiring, which was the problem.

New one is great piece of kit, easy to fit, well though out and most importantly tidy.

I'm sure if you ask nicely he'll make you one!
