Wanted, Choke Cable

I'm after a choke cable for VA138 - it looks like some Jerk, not me on this occasion, has chopped the cable off at the point it is secured to the choke on the carbs so it is about 2" too short.

I'm after the cable, not the assy, so that would be the round knob with the wire attached, the tube it runs in and the associated switch etc. is in good condition.

Thanks!

What length does your's measure? You may have one from another model other than Sprint...

There are two type of choke cables one has a solid wire and the other has a stranded wire and I believe they have a different arrangements to lock the choke out when it is required. The solid wire type just relies on friction between the wire and the outer case to keep it out and the stranded wire type needs the choke knob to be turned and this locks its movement. If you have the solid wire type and it won't stay out and you are fed up with using a peg to keep it out, which I believe is the common work around, I have found that if you catch hold of the case of the wire within the engine compartment and bend it you can increase the friction. This with the cable still fitted inside the outer case and it will stay where out when required.

Hi Alun, Rich, yeah I'll go and measure it soon.

It is the solid type definitely.

I'm just wondering if an 1850 one will do it? I won't know until I measure it I guess.

I have one fitted but I dont have carbs just so I can keep the dash stock looking. I'll swap yours for mine if you like (solid cable)

Hi Tony, that is very kind thank you! I did try and look at other makes of car but came up blank.

I did however, find that I could buy just a new cable from Rimmers' so have done that, at typically great expense - it turns out the new cable is about 4" longer than the shortened one I had originally fitted.

Thanks once again for the offer though, I appreciate it!
