No I think that’s the 2.3 or 2.6 Straight Six.

Notorious for the cams seizing in the head. (Sorry done so many partly blocked oil way)

Bodywork looks good, any rust?

Its a 2600cc

If you change the engine oil regularly, there's not anything wrong with the engine

for an SD1 the only rust is a little bit on both rear arches, the car needs new tyres as there old, hand brake needs looking at and oil leek on gearbox, and replaced the viscous unit

Quite possibly
But on newest cars at the time that haven’t had the blocks properly cleaned after machining swarf was still present.
Blocking oilways.

Then Rover changed there cleaning process.

Wasn't that engine derived from the Triumph straight six?

Yes it was a Triumph engine, only ever used in the Rover SD1,a bit like the Stag V8 in the day no one liked them, but now every one wants them, today you can tune them so there almost as powerful as the V8

Derived from certainly but much improved. The bottom end was substantially beefed up to address the known weaknesses of the OHV engine. Cylinder head very much follows the Sprint layout in concept but with only two valves per cylinder. Allegedly the 2.6 was under carburettored so as not to embarass the 3.5 V8

I've read the same about the 2.6, I think it also deliberately had very restrictive exhaust manifolds. It's supposed to respond very well to a few tuning modifications.
