Hi Folks,

This coming Sunday 22nd sees our main TSSC Shropshire monthly meeting for June. As previously agreed, our plan is to have a drive out to The Standard-Triumph Picnic. https://www.tssc.org.uk/tssc/events_fin ... nt_ID=3428

The weather forecast looks excellent and let’s hope it remains that way. 🙏🤞😀. A great day can therefore be in prospect for all. Not only with our Triumphs but also having the chance to look at other examples, some pre-war, at the picnic. Be assured, everyone is welcome to join us on the day no matter which Triumph enthusiast or other classic car enthusiast group they usually affiliate with.

Of course what members want in their respective ‘Picnic Basket’, we’ll leave to personal choice. No doubt they’ll be plenty of variety ranging from Marmalade or Marmite sandwiches, Sausage Rolls to something that has, or is accompanied by, Peanut Butter and/or Couscous. 🤣

In terms of the day’s plan itself, initial thoughts are as follows:-
9.00am - Meet up at Junction 4, M54 Services in Telford . Chance to get that first cup of coffee etc.
9.30am - Depart - Members can of chose their own route or consider one of the following two options.

Route 1
1. Take Road from Telford to Kidderminster via Bridgnorth.
2. A448 to Redditch
3. A4189 to Warwick and then on to Woodland Grange, Leamington Spa.

Route 2
1. Take A5 from Telford to Tamworth via Lichfield.
2. A38 to Coventry
3. A446 to Coleshill
4. A452 to Kenilworth/Leamington & then Woodland Grange, Leamington Spa

Arrive at the picnic approximately 11.00am.

We’ll leave it members to choose what route they favour on the day. Doing both will effectively circumnavigate the Birmingham conurbation. The only thing we will try and ensure is nobody travels alone in their Triumph who does not want to. I.e we set off from Telford in groups of 2-3 cars looking out for one another and those that want it, having the capacity to be in touch with the whole group should any help be needed.

After the Standard-Triumph Picnic we have now received confirmation that we can drive the 8 miles up the road to Canley from Leamington and visit the Standard-Triumph Club. https://www.standardtriumphclub.co.uk/ . We need to do this at some point between 12pm and 3pm.

The Standard-Triumph Club is the only remaining part of what was the Standard-Triumph factory site. It is something of a tradition for ourselves that, upon visiting, members look to take the ‘photo opportunity’ with their car and themselves outside the main club entrance. In addition, there is the Standard-Triumph monument, donated by Standard-Triumoh enthusiasts clubs, commemorating what was there over several decades in terms of the British car manufacturing industry. That should be viewable in the club car park, providing that is, it isn’t still covered up by a rather overgrown hedgerow. 🤣

Hopefully, that covers things for now. We hope to see as many of you as possible on Sunday morning.

Cheers
