Scuttle panel rot.

I've just put a thread in the wanted area regarding the scuttle panel area & thought it'd be a good idea to ask here as well (I'm not the most experienced Dolly owner as you'll all no doubt discover from my daft questions  ).

Basically, the scuttle panel outer skin is badly rotten although the rest of this area is very sound. I feel that to insert 6/7 patches and introduce a full new front lip (vertical piece in bonnet shut area) would leave a messy job and ,as I wish to get to the inner skin to rustproof it, that it would be better to replace the thing wholesale.

What I need to know is whether this panel is available as a repair section, from whom & for how much, or if I'd need to find a sound panel on another rotten car (the latter sounding like a no-goer as I believe this is a traditional Dolly weak point anyway)??

I hope my ramblings make at least some sense..... :?

I have found several cars with good scuttle panels.....ironically the ones with rot on the inside survive best on the outside.....got any pictures?

I have spare scuttle sitting in the yard.

They rot from the inside out; there is a multitude of seamed metal here which must effect som sort of moisture trap...

Mostly, although I had one that was sitting for a while which rotted from the outside - inside was good - think it might be as a result of a previous repair though....

Is it.....

Condensation? If the car is in regular use will the air inside the scuttle be warmer (and drier)?
