Top Gear BL special - next sunday

#1 Post by VYO 372M »

The Top Gear BL special is on next sunday.

They are celebrating 40 years of BL and asking the question - Are the cars really as bad as people say they are?

I wonder what their answer will be

Leeds Sprint

It does look from that picture as if the driver has evacuated the Sprint and is about to let the car roll down the hill backwards. I can only assume that the Dolomite seen in this photo is later destroyed as part of some Top Gear ritual of abuse (as seen on the Porsche for £1500 or the Supercar for £10K episodes).

Hmmm............

Yep, this has already been discussed HERE. Yes, the car has been evacuated, and yes, the car is about to roll down the hill backwards. Doesn't look good I'm afraid! At least the cars will get some publicity... Here's the link:

Mixed views from me, quite like Clarksons 'sideways view of life' and whilst some of their stunts are naff 'sailing the channel' others are quite imaginative "I am a road warrior complete with skulls on the bonnet" made me laaarf, but I guess the Lancia Beta owners club had a thing or two to say about the car that was trashed.

I predict 'Leyland were that confused thay had 3 cars in the 2 litre bracket that competed with each other' sort of a tale.....all four door saloons, why they didn't make the Dolomite a 2 door like Ford did with the RS2000 Clarkson only knows.....the SD1 thinks it is a Ferrari Daytona and the Princess was designed by a guy who produced door stops, sure we've heard em all before.

I predict they will purposely cause the Sprint to overheat...just to perpetuate the belief that the engine is crap!

I don't know what the gradient change is at the bottom of the 1:3 slope, but could it end up on its roof?

Looking at the picture, it's only a 1 in 3 between those two lines, so hopefully it will get to the flat bit before it gets fully side on to the hill.

What a great shame.

And yes folks it's you and me (aka the tv licence payer) that have paid for that car to be destroyed.
