It all started at 2 .. and by 6 we had redused my short engine to a lump of pig iron.

Basically. the engine came apart nicely and its in good nick. there was a little bit too much float and the big end bearings on 2 and 3 where scored.

oily as ****. due to a front crank shaft seal letting go a couple of years back

i learnt alot and rich was having a laugh ripping such a simple engine apart after doing his sr20det nissan 200sx engine ( still in progress)

a picture tells a 1k words so. i give you. a dolomite 16v stripdown

Seems i ****ed this then.

Is green the factory colour for the sprint engine,or is it painted that colour when reconditioned?I only ask because mine was green also, but it has got the original engine number stamped on the block as per Heritage certificate.I just wondered if mine has had any major work done to the block in its life..

Yes my spare 1850 engine has a green block too, this is an engine built on a factory short engine purchased in the early 1990's. My block doesn't have any engine numbers stamped on it anywhere.

its the mutts in that colour - no paint required. Most of mine are black - its oil based paint....

Not sure if Martin has any smurf blue left over that you can borrow.

Another vote for black

Silver for the ajp though!

Nice work there chaps, but is it only me that has to fumble around in the back of a draughty/damp garage rather than these plush workshops

I've gradually progressed my garage space over the years. Firstly we had a single garage in a compound at the back of my flat with no power, then when we moved, I had a similar sized garage in a compound but mine was the end one so was able to access straight from my back garden plus this one had power. Still not enough room to work in properly though. When we decided we were going to move house again, I said I wanted a double garage or at least room to build one. So we bought our present house which had a single garage but was extended to a double within a year...and it's got a remote control roller door! 8)
